Santiago de Queretaro City Map
The city of Santiago de Queretaro (Queretaro Capital) is located in the central part of Mexico in the state of Queretaro de Corregidora (AKA Queretaro state), to the east is the state of Hidalgo, to the west are the states of Michoacan and Guanajuato, to the north is state of San Luis Potosi, and far to the south is the state of Mexico.
Queretaro has a very flat topography unless in the Sierra Gorda and is 1,600 meters above sea level (4,800 Feet).
Queretaro has a centro historico typical of colonial Spanish cities. The most densely populated areas are to the north (Jurica and Juriquilla) and the less populated areas are to the south.
The Centro Historico area is becoming increasingly popular with American and other expats who are rescuing and restoring the classic colonial structures. We recently noted this surge of interest in buying properties in Queretaro’s historic downtown.
